- Phone number — used for account creation and login via OTP verification (Firebase Phone Auth)
- Name and class details — provided during profile setup to personalise your experience
- Subject and language preferences — to customise content delivery
- AI tutor chat messages — your questions sent to our AI tutor are processed to generate responses
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — quizzes attempted, subjects studied, study streaks, feature usage patterns
- Device information — device model, operating system version, app version (for troubleshooting)
- Performance data — quiz scores, accuracy rates, progress metrics (stored to show your progress)
- Crash and error reports — anonymous error data to help us fix bugs
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect payment information — all payments are handled by Google Play
- We do not collect precise GPS location data
- We do not collect contacts, photos, or files from your device
- We do not use tracking for advertising purposes
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and improve the ExamCoach AI service
- To generate personalised AI quizzes, study notes, and question papers based on your class and subject
- To power the multilingual AI tutor by sending your questions to our AI processing service
- To track and display your progress, accuracy, and study streaks within the app
- To send important service notifications (e.g., subscription status, security alerts)
- To analyse usage patterns and improve our features (using aggregated, anonymised data)

We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties under any circumstances.
3. Third-Party Services We Use
ExamCoach AI uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers with industry-standard encryption. Firebase provides:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS for all data transfer)

- Compliance with Google Cloud security standards
While we implement strong security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we do our best to protect your information.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services to you. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time through our Account Deletion page. Upon deletion:
- Your profile, quiz history, progress data, and chat history are permanently deleted within 30 days
- Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics may be retained (these cannot be linked back to you)
- Google Play subscription billing records are managed by Google and subject to their retention policies
6. Children's Privacy
ExamCoach AI is designed for students aged 13 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@examcoachai.in and we will promptly delete such information.
Students aged 13–17 should use the app under parental guidance or with parental consent, as required by applicable laws.
7. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Deletion — Request deletion of your account and personal data via our deletion page
- Data portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format
